Can I File a Complaint?

A few days ago, the humans started behaving oddly, looking out the windows whenever they heard a banging noise, which was often. The first few times, the noises startled me, as they sounded like someone knocking on the door. Then I realized it was just that yearly summer thing again. Sure enough, the next night, the humans were just sitting and watching TV, then they started talking about “going to see the fireworks,” putting shoes on, and getting me geared up in my leash and harness. Then we walked outside! A walk at bedtime!? No, they just sat in chairs on the driveway, me laying in front of Isabella, while the humans talked and looked at the sky. I heard a lot of banging and occasional odd noises, but that didn’t bother me. The sky looked like it was exploding, though. It was brown and blue and white and yellow and gold and purple (my favorite color) and a different shade of brown…or maybe those browns were red and green. I can’t tell–I’m a dog! That night, when we FINALLY went inside, I slipped right off to sleep. I don’t know why they do this, but they did it around the same time last year. And the year before. And the year before that–actually, I don’t remember if we did or not, but the humans say I just stayed inside and slept through the fireworks. Anyway, it’s entertaining, and the colors are pretty, but why does it have to be so LATE!? After all, I need my beauty sleep!
