It started out a normal day. Except…I smelled something. I dug a hole, and suddenly I heard a bunch of squeaking! The hole was filled with little furry things. I grabbed one and ran. Mom got me to drop it and put me inside while Isabella went to check on it. It turned out to be a rabbit kit! There was a whole nest of them! Isabella rounded up all 4 of them and released them into the front yard, as they were old enough to be on their own. Since it was the 4th of July, Isabella named the feistiest one Firecracker. Then I investigated the nest some more. I found one last kit, and Dad asked Isabella to help. She carried the very affectionate kit out to the front yard and released her. We didn’t see any sign of the bunnies after that, but Dad found the mom in the front yard! Plus, I didn’t hurt them! I just thought they might hurt Isabella, so I protected her by picking one up. So, really, I was doing the right thing, right?
