On Isabella’s 14th birthday, the humans got the car all packed up, then got me hooked up to my leash and harness, got me in the car, and we all took off. Then, after a while, we arrived at Nana and Papa’s House! They had cake, and presents, and yummy dinner with ham, cheese, and beef–they even gave me some! Unfortunately, they were also eating chicken, and they wouldn’t give me any–something about “allergies.”

Then, after playing a game of Pin the Body on the Butterfly (the humans played for me, and I won!), we got back in the car and went home.

Then, the next day, the humans got ready again, but this time, they put me in the crate and left me! I got out thanks to Smoky, and we both watched what the humans were doing through a secret drone camera disguised as a fly that Smoky had invented. The humans visited a place they called the zoo, where they visited the “reptile house.” At one point, a black monitor lizard ran down his tree to meet Isabella. I was glad when she moved on–I do NOT need a lizard taking my place! Then, they met with Nana and Papa, and a lady came up to them, taking them into the penguin house. They put on overalls and boots that looked like they’d be amazing to chew, then they walked into a room and sat down. Then the doors opened, and a bunch of penguins came running in! The humans fed them fish, and some even let the humans pet them! One macaroni penguin fell asleep on Mom’s lap! Then the worst part happened. A large king penguin named Lola came in, Isabella went over to her, and she sat down in Isabella’s lap and started preening her with her beak. She didn’t leave her the whole time, and when Isabella fed a Gentoo penguin named Zelda some fish, Zelda came closer, and Lola snapped at her! Big, affectionate, and protective–did this penguin think she was a shepherd? I was very glad when the humans came home. But that night, I was extra cuddly with Isabella…just so she didn’t forget her REAL shepherd.
