The humans, with help from Smoky, have set up a bird feeder with a camera attached that automatically records video and takes pictures when it sees motion. Now, because it was cold, we didn’t get any visitors until a few days ago. A house sparrow showed up, which is not the best thing, as they are invasive, but still, it was our first bird.

Then, there was briefly a black-capped chickadee, but nothing else. Until yesterday, when it was warmer. Apparently, we now have new neighbors! A pair of house finches, a male and a female, were there almost constantly. They are probably nesting nearby!

Today the male finch was seen meeting the sparrow at the feeder. I hope the finches’ nest succeeds and we get more birds!
