Is This Kind of Thing Going to Happen All Year?

The other day, when it was warmer, the humans took me outside. I played with my ball; Isabella sat on the swing with her music, everyone played with the basketball on the driveway…you know, the usual. But at one point, I stopped to sniff a little crawly thing no longer than an inch, and Isabella came to see what I’d found. She said it was a millipede, whatever that means, and she let it crawl up on her finger and carried it over to the grass like she was some kind of taxi service or something!

Now, everyone knows that a human should never pay more attention to another animal than to their dog. But this happened last year with the bird and the rabbits, and the year before with Little Jackie. Also, there’s the new fish we just got, and the nature center animals…and get this—I heard Isabella talking about how she is going to volunteer at the animal shelter soon–where there’s other dogs!–and at the zoo this summer. I’m just going to have to be on my guard, I guess…
